Fair play at Kibblesworth family fun day

Residents of a south Gateshead estate recently took part in a free family fun day. Kibblesworth’s Autumn Fair at the village’s Millennium Centre, attracted more than 200 residents and was officially opened by the Deputy Mayor of Gateshead, Councillor Jack Graham MBE. Mosaic pieces together Kibblesworth’s colourful history

The history of Kibblesworth has been colourfully depicted through a series of mosaics, created from a community art project supported by the housing company and local councillors. The eight panels each feature an element of the village’s heritage – from coal mining to the recently-built Millennium Centre. Pupils from Kibblesworth Primary School, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, helped create the mosaics with the school now displaying the finished mosaics. Airey homes saved for posterity

A unique project to save some of Kibblesworth’s post-war Airey homes for posterity has begun with the help of The Gateshead Housing Company. A block of four houses is being painstakingly deconstructed, loaded on to pallets and transported to Beamish Museum in Durham.
